The Cincinnati Bengals were linked to Alvin Kamara in a potential trade GettyThe Buffalo Bills are heading into the 2026 season with a familiar backfield, with the team missing out on the chance to make a splash with a suggested addition. The Bills return their top trio of James Cook, Ty Johnson, and Ray Davis to the backfield, with little competition expected in training camp as the three are considered roster locks. Some analysts had suggested the Bills could add another versatile running back in Alvin Kamara, but he just landed a new contract with the New Orleans Saints to dash any hopes of coming to Buffalo.
Bills Trade Target Off the BoardAs NFL.com writer Grant Gordon reported, Kamara signed a deal that is expected to keep him in New Orleans for the remainder of his career. He was nearing the end of a $75 million contract extension signed in 2020.

He’ll be running it back with the Saints, looking to add on to a resume that includes nine seasons, five Pro Bowls, 12,198 yards from scrimmage and 516 career points.”There had been suggestions in recent months that the Saints could deal Kamara, even as the 31-year-old running back made it clear that he had no desire to leave the team. His agent, Brad Cicala, confirmed that desire in announcing the new deal.
“Alvin’s goal, and the team’s goal, was for him to remain with the Saints and retire a Saint,” Cicala told NFL.com.Bills Were Identified as Landing Spot for Alvin KamaraThough the Bills have few needs in their backfield — especially with Cook coming off a league-best 1,621 rushing yards last year — Fox Sports analyst Greg Auman suggested the Bills could strengthen both phases of their offense
