‘Best ball skills of any receiver we’ve seen’: Why Oregon commit Dakota Guerrant earned 5th star

Five prospects were named a five-star for the first time on Monday when Rivals updated its player recruiting rankings — the Rivals300 — for the 2027 cycle. One of those new additions was Harper Woods (Mich.) wide receiver Dakota Guerrant.

Long considered one of the best pass-catchers in the nation, Guerrant has taken that leap from top-100 recruit to the next tier. He’s now Rivals’ No. 22 prospect, No.

3 receiver and No. 1 player in Michigan.It’s a well-earned bump for the Oregon commit.

He had a monster junior season, hauling in 55 receptions, turning them into 1,074 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also plays defensive back and had 40 tackles, three interceptions and nine pass-breakups in 2025. $19.

He’ll now enter his senior year as a five-star, and earlier this week, Rivals’ Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power explained why he received the big stock bump.“Dakota Guerrant, in my opinion, has the best ball skills of any receiver we’ve seen to this point in the cycle — and we’ve had the chance to see the vast majority of the top receivers in 2027 in-person on the camp circuit.
