According to the Korea National Oil Corporation’s Opinet price information system on Saturday, the average price of gasoline in the second week of July dropped 59-point-one won from the previous week to one-thousand-893 won per liter, or around one U.
S. dollar and 26 cents. The average price of diesel also fell 62-point-three won to one-thousand-880-point-one won per liter.
Global oil prices slightly rose this week as tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalated, raising concerns over transit in the Strait of Hormuz.
However, the gains were limited due to an OPEC Plus decision to boost August production and the surge in United Arab Emirates crude output following the country's exit from OPEC in May. As of June 27, the South Korean government lowered the price caps on refiners' supplies of gasoline and diesel to gas stations by 150 won per liter to one-thousand-784 won per liter and one-thousand-773 won per liter, respectively.
