Alicia Keys & Nas Celebrate Knicks Championship With New York City Songs At Tribeca Fest

In New York City, following a historic win from the New York Knicks, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” has been on repeat. Last night, after their win over the San Antonio Spurs, crowds were screaming it in the streets. And for another very lucky crowd, they were singing it along with Keys herself at the closing party for the Tribeca Film Festival.

The One9-directed documentary Alicia Keys: Girl From Hell’s Kitchen premiered last night, followed by a special after-party where Keys sang a few songs and also brought out Nas.She opened her performance with a cover of Barbra Streisand’s “The Way We Were,” followed by Keys’ 2001 hit “Fallin’” and “Pawn It All” with Tony- and Grammy-winning artist Shoshana Bean. Nas came out and the two performed Illmatic’s “Represent” and “N.

Y. State Of Mind,” then “Streets Of New York.” She also performed Billy Joel’s “New York State Of Mind,” and of course closed her set with “Empire State Of Mind.”

Based on what I’ve seen online, the city seems to be in a very special kind of euphoric chaos. This feels like the perfect little set to celebrate not only Keys’ legacy, but NYC, baby — where dreams are made of.Knicks in five.
