The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday evening arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police Sankireddy Bheem Reddy in connection with the disproportionate assets case registered against him after officials completed searches at multiple locations linked to him.The DSP, who is posted at Police Computer Services (PCS), Hyderabad, was arrested at about 7.40 p.
m. from his residence in Vessella Meadows, Ibrahimbagh and is expected to be produced before the designated ACB court.The arrest comes days after the ACB carried out simultaneous searches at the officer’s residence and 15 other premises linked to his relatives, friends, alleged benamidars and associates across Telangana and Karnataka.
During the searches, officials recovered documents relating to several immovable properties, including a villa at Vessella Meadows in Ibrahimbagh, a G+2 residential building with a penthouse and a flat in Telecom Nagar, another flat in Gachibowli, two flats in Tellapur, open plots in Nagole, Patancheru and Pragathi Resorts, commercial properties in Manikonda, agricultural land in Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Karnataka, besides an investment of ₹75 lakh in a rock sand mining company.The ACB also seized about ₹3.6 lakh in cash from the officer’s residence and another ₹40 lakh from the residence of an alleged benamidar.
Around two kg of gold ornaments, about 20 kg of silver articles and bank balances of nearly ₹19.91 lakh were also found during the searches.Officials had earlier stated that the market value of the immovable properties was likely to be substantially higher than their documented value.
They also recovered 23 foreign liquor bottles from the DSP’s residence and referred the matter to the Excise Department for further action.The ACB alleged that the officer had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices during his service. Further investigation is underway.
