Jun. 15—Another high school baseball season in Minnesota has come and gone, and the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association has announced its 2026 All-State Teams. Seven players from southeastern Minnesota made the list.
In Class 3A, Kasson-Mantorville seniors Grady Babcock (Butler University commit) and Quinn Weis received All-State honors after helping the KoMets to a Section 1, Class 3A runner-up finish, falling to first-seeded Northfield 13-8 on June 3. K-M finished the season 15-11.Five players from southeastern Minnesota were named All-State in Class 2A.
From Winona Cotter, junior pitcher/rightfielder Vince Frisch and senior pitcher/firstbaseman Dane Guzzo (St. John's University, Minn. commit) made the cut after helping the Ramblers to the Section 1, Class 2A title and a Class 2A state semifinal appearance.
Cotter went 25-5 overall and finished fourth at the Class 2A tournament, after dropping its state semifinal game to eventual state champion St. Cloud Cathedral 3-2 and the third-place game against Windom 9-7 on June 12 in St. Cloud.
The remaining Class 2A players are University of Minnesota commits, Cannon Falls' senior pitcher/shortstop Ryan Hjellming and Zumbrota-Mazeppa's senior pitcher/center fielder Hudson Ohm, along with Lake City's senior pitcher/shortstop Colter Hegge (Dakota County Technical College commit).Hjellming led Cannon Falls to a Section 2, Class 2A championship win and a Class 2A state berth. The Bombers ended the year 20-8 after losing to Cotter 15-5 in the state quarterfinals and to Minnehaha Academy in the consolation semifinals.
Ohm and the Cougars went 12-11 this spring and 2-2 in the Section 1, Class 2A playoffs.Lake City finished 15-10 on the season with losses to Cotter in the Section 1, Class 2A semifinals and Lourdes in the elimination bracket.
