The Health department has initiated measures to upgrade 10 Ayurveda and Homoeopathy Ayush centres in Wayanad to the standards of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).The initiative is part of the third phase of assessments to upgrade Ayush Health and Wellness Centres in the State to NABH standards. The 10 Ayush centres in the district selected for the accreditation process include the Ayurveda centres at Vellamunda, Niravilpuzha, Thalappuzha, Padinjarathara, Kaniyambetta, Echome, and Padichira, along with the Homoeopathy centres at Koleri, Noolpuzha, and Poothadi.

As part of the assessment process, expert teams will evaluate the centres on various quality parameters, including patient safety, infection control, clinical protocols, record maintenance, availability of essential medicines, infrastructure development, patient-friendly services, and overall service delivery. The assessment also covers staff training, sanitation, and adherence to standard operating procedures.Officials said achieving NABH accreditation would help standardise healthcare services at Ayush centres and improve the quality of patient care.

The accreditation is also expected to strengthen public confidence in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy services by ensuring that the centres meet nationally recognised quality and safety benchmarks.
