치매 등으로 보험 가입 사실을 잊거나 직접 보험금을 청구하기 어려운 가입자를 대신해 가족이 보험금을 받을 수 있는 ‘대리청구인 지정 제도’가 대폭 손질된다. 치매보험에 한정됐던 제도는 암·뇌·심혈관 질환 보험까지 확대되고, 가족 개인정보 동의 없이도 대리청구인을 지정할 수 있게 된다.금융감독원은 29일 이 같은 내용의 제도 개선 방안을 발표했다. 치매 발병 이후 보험 가입 사실을 인지하지 못해 보험금을 청구하지 못하는 사례를 줄이기 위한 조치다. 실제 치매보험 대리청구인 지정률은 2021년 26%에서 올해 상반기 23.1%로 오히려 낮아졌다.
