이재명 대통령은 15일 더불어민주당 최고위원에 출마한 김용 전 민주연구원 부원장의 뇌물 수수 혐의 사건을 언급하면서, 김 전 부원장에게 유죄를 선고한 법원 판결에 대해 “참으로 이해하기 어렵다”고 했다. 이 대통령은 과거 김 전 부원장에 대해 “김용 정도는 돼야 측근”이라고 했었다. 당내에서는 “대통령이 최고위원 선거에서 사실상 김 전 부원장을 지지해 달라는 신호를 보낸 것 아니냐”는 반응이 나왔다.
